The pound lost ground across the board yesterday with the GBP/USD cross dropping over a cent, leaving the currency pair trading at $1.2820 this morning.

Sterling fell after MPC member Ben Broadbent failed to back up recent talk of a rate hike from the Bank of England during a speech yesterday, forcing GBP/USD down to its lowest levels since the end of June. Meanwhile the euro rose against the dollar over the course of yesterday, with the cross now sitting at 1.1458, the highest level witnessed since 2nd May 2016.
